Humanoid Project ‘Optimus’ has become Tesla’s top priority; Know how Tesla bot will change our lives

Nowadays, Tech tycoon, Elon Musk is working aggressively on a humanoid robot Optimus. The prototype of this bot will be made by the end of 2022. At the same time, it commercial production will be started by 2023. Musk has claimed time and again that ‘Optimus’ will change the world. The Tesla Bot project appears to have gone from a side project to a high priority for the firm in a short span of time.

Elon Musk introduced the “Tesla Bot” idea at Tesla’s AI Day last year as something the business could execute by using current work and pieces from self-driving technology development, and if they don’t, someone else will. It didn’t appear to be a top priority for Tesla at the time, and many considered it as primarily a recruitment tool.

About Optimus:

The body is completely white below the shoulders, but the head and neck are painted black. According to Musk, there will be a display that will provide individuals with vital information.

The Tesla bot is on its way to take care of the slackers. Optimus will perform all of the petty tasks that humans are required to perform. This bot will do everything that is considered dangerous or monotonous. It should ideally work at people’s whims.

This robot is currently under the supervision of the AI team. But the company wants it to reach the people as soon as possible.

So far, we know that the robot would be 5.8 feet (173 cm) in height and weigh 125 pounds (57 kg). The walking speed will be around 8 km/hr. The load carrying capacity of this bot will be 45 pounds (20 kg).

Significance of Tesla bot:

A highly sophisticated AI robot provides an infinite supply of labour, which is now limited only by the cost and resources required to build it. It is, however, a difficult task, as no AI has yet succeeded in solving the autonomous navigation problem completely.

Elon wants to start with a bot that can receive voice orders and perform basic jobs in a Tesla factory; a humanoid bot that can move on its own, assemble or move parts in factory, and perform other physical repetitive task.

Tesla and SpaceX will undoubtedly receive the greatest advantage from Optimus as a product before anyone else can get their hands on it. Optimus, in particular, can be a huge help to SpaceX and could possibly play a crucial role in Elon Musk’s Mars City plans. Bot like Optimus does not need to eat or sleep, it also does not require extra radiation shielding or a life support system as humans do. The cost of each humanoid bot launch will be significantly low compared with any human spaceflight.
