The demand for electric vehicles is catching up all over the world and car makers across the globe are now focusing more on the EV. Lately, German premium auto maker, Mercedes, has also joined this race. In CES 2022, Mercedes has introduced its concept electric car Mercedes Vision EQXX. In terms of range, this car can break the sweat of rival electric cars. Mercedes is raising the mobility range bar very high, company claimed that the new Vision EQXX can give an astonishing range of about 1,000 km on a single charge.
Mercedes Benz is also rapidly adding electric vehicles to its line-up and launching new models. The company plans to electrify the entire product portfolio by 2030. Let’s have a closer look at this revolutionary car.
The range is the USP of this car
The most striking feature of this car is its barriers-breaking range. In terms of efficiency, this car can even outperform conventional fuel vehicles. This amazing range implies that this car will consume less than 10 kWh of energy per 100 kilometres. According to Mercedes, this jaw-dropping range becomes possible because due to its highly sophisticated powertrain and lightweight battery pack that will convert 95 percent of battery power into mechanical energy. To compare, this efficiency is 30 percent in conventional fuel-based vehicles.
How Mercedes has achieved this range?
For such a high-efficiency company worked on energy density rather than making the battery bigger and heavier. The energy density of its battery pack has been drastically improved to 200 Wh/kg. Due to such high energy density, the battery of this prototype can store 100 kWh. Interestingly, the battery housing of this car takes 50% lesser space while weighing 30% less than similar capacity batteries.
Design of Vision EQXX:
The battery is not the only thing that made this car an efficiency champion, its design is also behind such feat. The car has been engineered very aerodynamically. The front of this car is designed so intricately that it minimises air drag. Moreover, a narrow rear wheel track facilitates the efficient passage of air. The rose-gold magnesium rims are something that makes the car more appealing.
Talking about the interior of the car, here company has blended luxury with sustainability. Mercedes has used plant-based materials in adorning the ambience of this car. The company claims that it has not used a single animal-based product in this car.
